Job Position : Head – Accounting, Internal Controls & Taxation
Job Description :
Representing Finance department on matters related to Accounting, Controls and Taxation in various forums, regionally and globally.
•Inculcating an environment of control consciousness in the organization by working on various initiatives to improve the overall control environment including implementation of best practices.
•Responsible for liaison with the auditors to ensure timely completion and resolution of issues identified.
•Supporting inspections from various authorities with accurate and timely deliveries.
•Representing finance function in Audit Committees of the Board of Directors.
•Monitoring performance of the department and maintaining a highly motivated workforce that is geared up to meet operational and strategic challenges.
Reporting
•Responsible for timely reporting with the highest quality to the parent Company.
•Ensuring Group Finance satisfaction by securing the financial statements with quality accounting/reporting.
•Finalizing treatment of various complex transactions in accordance with IFRS / Indian GAAP.
•This would include, review of contracts, discussion with respective process owners across various departments, making accounting assessments by referring relevant literature, documenting treatment in accounting memos, taking buy-in from the Group and Auditors and preparation of accounting bulletins and rolling them out to the hubs, circles for their consideration.
•Interaction with circle finance teams to drive standardization, benchmarking, best practise sharing, setting up matrices, improve turnaround times etc.
•Reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations and exposure dashboard.
General Accounting
•Timely and accurate monthly/quarterly/yearly financial Closure of books of accounts.
•Initiating improvements in the book closure process to ensure user department satisfaction.
•Preparation and maintenance of Indian GAAP and IFRS financial statements in accordance with the relevant statute and compliance with the Companies Act 2013.
•Responsible for providing information to various regulatory bodies from time to time.
Revenue Accounting
•Ensure accurate and timely accounting/reporting of revenues, related taxes and related expenses.
•Responsible for reviewing new revenue arrangements, inter-connect, roaming arrangements with service providers, commission schemes to distributors etc. from an accounting perspective.
•Responsible for external compliance to regulatory bodies like DoT and TRAI.
•Representing the accounting department in various forums led by COAI, AUSPI, TRAI etc.
•Working in close co-ordination with other departments to secure the reported numbers.
•Representing the department in company-wide initiatives relating to new services, products.
Payables
•Responsible for smooth functioning of the shared services (back office) by maintaining a motivated workforce and ensuring good scores on various KPIs.
•Drive overall improvements in the vendor management process by partnering with the Operations team as well as vendors to ensure satisfaction without compromising the interests of the organization.
•Leading co-ordination with vendors to secure financial risks.
ERP
•Define vision and strategy for ERP and guide the vision from strategy through execution to solution.
•Leading the Finance function in terms of setting out expectations from IT (D&D, Operations) and third party service provider and ensuring delivery as agreed.
•Responsible for a stable operation of ERP and interfaces by ensuring co-ordination between the user and the third party service provider and giving guidance/advice between Finance and IT.
•Lead initiatives on synergies/standardizations in the Financial IT application area and represent the finance function in cross functional IT projects.
•Accurate and updated Master data management across all masters in ERP namely, vendor, customer, employee, property, currency, item, tax.
Taxation
•Leading the taxation vertical by ensuring timely compliances and representation before taxation authorities for various assessments and appeals in order to safeguard the Company’s tax position.
•Drive the taxation function at the corporate level by developing overall tax Strategy in terms of effective tax planning.
Internal Control
•Maintaining compliance with the SOx framework by constantly reengineering new and innovative ways of work.
•Manage authority / responsibility split principles and delegation framework for company (Authority Matrix).
•Partnering with verticals across the organization in form of providing guidance on operational challenges, inputs on increasing operational efficiency etc
•Sustain the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework and strengthening of risk management processes and principles.
•Perform Strategic risk profiling exercise, formulate risk response strategy and develop risk tools and techniques, mitigation plans and identifying critical control issues and working on corrective action plan.
Education
•University degree in Finance / Economics
•Chartered accountant (India)
•International Accounting degree (UK/US)
Experience
•15+ years experience
•5 years Telecom industry experience
