Job Position : Director - Future Engineering

Job Description :

Key Objective / Purpose of Job: This position is for a Future Engineering Director to work in the UCC Business unit (Unified Communication & Collaboration) within the Office of the CTO. The role is focused on a specific set of strategic elements supporting the definition and advance proofs of the roadmap for UC&C. The role will require the development of deep and broad strategic relationships within potential and current vendors who may sell products and services to support the Companies’ UC&C roadmap. International experience and a proven knowledge of global telco products is essential. The role will also include a strategic interface to Product and Engineering organisations for the purposes of roadmap synergy and execution.



Future Engineering:

• Support UCC-CTO to ensure technology strategy is aligned to Corporate Strategy

• Detailed analysis and requirements for engineering and product to work from

• Initial analysis with product management of roadmaps, project costs, market pricing and sizing

• Work as part of a global team under a global team strategy



Global Product Interface:

• Work closely with Product, Marketing and other functional support departments to review progress/problems and ensure future success



Global Vendor Interface:

• Develop and build vendor and industry networks globally

• Development of long-term strategic partnerships based on joint value propositions and innovation with vendors in order to ensure mid to long-term alignment of technology and solution roadmaps.

• Represent Companies’ at industry trade shows, customer events, conferences and seminars.



Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in business administration, engineering, sales, or telecomm. MBA Preferred.

• At least 15 years experience in the telecommunications industry

• Extensive experience working at C-level.

• Extensive experience working with press and analysts.

• Strong leadership. Self starter.

• Must possess strong program/project management skills and have the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.

• Business Development experience.

• Knowledge of all services including: all capacity and network services, cable systems, VPN, Ethernet, Data Centre, Hosting, IP, Voice, IP-Video, Mobility, Cloud, UC&C.

• Excellent problem solving ability.

• Experience working in entrepreneurial, multicultural, and global environments.

• Willingness to travel.
